Help me overclock my Q6600!

Thread Starter
Ok, so I have been through the basics, OC'ed an E6750 to 3.2ghz, and I currently have my Q6600 at 3.4ghz, but I want 3.6ghz. The settings on my bios are whack, I seriously am confused. I have provided a pic of my BIOS settings, and will explain what my CPU-Z is telling me at the moment.

There are my settings, remember this is a Q6600 G0 @ 3.4ghz that has gone through 7hrs and 30 min of Prime95, and passed without any errors. I am running 29C Idle, and 55C Load, and I want to squeeze out .2 more ghz.

Some more information, when I try 400 FSB in my BIOS, It is unable to boot windows, and unable to post, so I have to CLR CMOS, and continue on with 3.4ghz.

If 3.6ghz on my system is impossible, or unsafe for my CPU, tell me. Also CPU-Z is telling me that my Vcore is 1.480, weird, I know.

Thanks so much!

Prob gonna be the first but not last to say it, RAM

Amount of RAM and also RAM timing

Set the Vcore yourself and set the PCI Express Frequency to 100MHz

Do manual DRAM settings and set it @1:1 so you'll end up @DDR2800

Check your RAM is on 2T Command rate and up your TRC from 23T to 26T if thats there

Your TRAS can be upped from 15 or so to around 18 to add stability

Hope that helps =)

Oh and set your RAM voltage to 2.1v, if that dont work try 2.2v

So 0.3v on the RAM, as stock MB voltage is 1.8v generally

Thanks for the suggestions!

Are you sure I should go to 2.2v? The voltage "reccomendation" for my ram is 1.8v - 1.9v.

Oh, and 1.4vcore should be sufficient for 3.6ghz, correct?

Will do, HauntSheep.

And cognoscenti, is it a bad board for Quads? I think its been working pretty good for me. It was great on my E6750.

Gonna go try these settings out now, wish me luck.

Your suggestions did not work, HauntSheep.

The system would not post, had to CLRCMOS.

Put 1.45v through it
Leave your ram on Auto timings at first
Put the NB on 1.5 SB 1.45
FSB move up from current in 2mhz increments and see if it keeps posting then report back.
(1) pci express freq. take off auto and put at 100 its that one or the clock sych.
(2)spread spectrum disable
(3)cpu vcore off auto, put at 1.4 to 1.45
(4) put ram volts to 2.0 to 2.1

try these out and let us know
