To the poster, I would tighten those timings back to 4-4-4-12. You should (not a guarantee) be able to run them at 2.1v. Since you are only at a 315 FSB, try setting your memory to the lowest divider as already recommended. At this setting with a 315 FSB, CPU-Z should be showing 315MHz in the memory tab. This is DDR2 630 speed. So you know the ram isnt the problem if the memory tab shows 400MHz or less (DDR2 800 = 400 x 2).
I decided to try and see what might be causing it so I set my memory to 5-5-5-18 at 2.0 V and it was stable. Then I figured I would see the max FSB before crashing occurred.

This is when it got weird. I lowered from 9x to 7x, put it at stock voltage and then tried to boot 333 (keeping the RAM at no more than 800 Mhz). It posted but then BSOD when windows tried to boot. I raised the voltage up slowly, BSODing all the way. Even at 1.405V up from stock 1.325V, I could not get past the BSOD.
So I lowered it to 320 and raised it to 1.405 and it booted fine.

Why the heck is it so tough for my chip to go from 310-333. It seems like that area just rocks it.

Any advice. I mean, without raising my voltage higher, it doesn't look like anything above 315 or 320 is even possible.

I put it back at 1.345 V and 315 and changed the RAM timing to 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 volts. Seems like it is still stable. I can't believe I will have to go higher than 1.405 volts to get to 3.0 Ghz. I will probably just stay at 2.85

Sounds like your chip has a FSB wall. But you did a good job of narrowing it down. Sorry you are maxed out though!

Yeah, it sucks when you know that a lot of people got 3.0 Ghz on stock fans and voltages, but then when you actually think about it, I paid $73 for this chip and it OC a full 1.0 Ghz. Can I really complain? Nope - I'm gonna go game!

You might not be FSB walled. I just find that on the E2xxx chips you need a hell of a lot of voltage to push them over the 3 Ghz mark. For example, my chip does run at 3.3 Ghz but I need 1.45V.

Don't worry I'm testing stability for 3.0GHz @ 1.4625...

I know it's a huge vCore increase but my chip just wont post under 1.425. I barely got it to run ORTHOS for 45+ minutes (still counting as we speak) at 1.4625v

Hey two guys above me - what coolers are you using. I originally bought a cheap cooler and it can barely keep it at 60C at 1.345 (just .02 above stock). I have an Arctic Freezer 7 in the mail though and it should be here monday. Hopefully then I can push this thing to the 1.45 or so voltage without huge hits to my temps.
Also, what temps are you getting with those voltages/coolers?
Thanks

Wow, it is in your profile sigs. Sorry, didn't notice. Still want to know what your temps are though. Everyone says that the AC Freezer 7 pro sees huge losses in temp, so I am definitely excited to push the chip once I get one

Well I gotta say the Freezer 7 Pro is a really good choice. It gives me 23-26C on idle and currently @ 2.9GHz max it gives me under ORTHOS is 48-50C

I'm staying at 2.9GHz or even 2.8GHz. I have to bump the vCore A LOT (around 1.475v) just to get 3.0GHz on the otherhand, I'm testing stability with 2.9GHz at just 1.4v and so far it's great. It's kinda anoying but as you said, I can't complain, it's a $70 chip!

Agreed. I am angry I went with the cheap cooler originally and then screwed up the install because now I get 60 or so when gaming and 35 or so idle. I get my Freezer 7 on Monday so I'll get that installed and let you know.
