Finally hoping to crack the top 100 thanks to my new PS3!

Like the title said, I'm finally hoping to crack the top 100 thanks to my new PS3 I picked up Friday night. I basically fold 20 hours a day with my pc (Win/SMP) and I think I've done a pretty good job considering I've only been doing this for less than 9 months. I've been hanging out in the 110-101 range for a couple of weeks now but hopefully that will soon change.

I'll basically be folding with my ps3 80% of the time. There will be a few times where it will be folding for 3-4 days without interruption. I do have a question though, can anyone tell me how many points each WU is good for on the ps3? Thanks!

I fold only using my PS3. My stats show about 900 points a day.

Not really. I mean, yeah it's gone up some but nothing to epic proportions. From what I've read it looks like the ps3 may add another $8.50-$12.50 a month to my bill; sometimes less and sometimes more. That isn't going to hurt me any.

800-900 PPD isn't that bad at all. Right now it's taking me about a day and a half to finish one WU on my pc but those are usually good for 1600 each.

Hi HauntSheep,

The electricity per kilowatt hour isn't too bad in the U.S. yet.... Maybe within this year when the price of oil really kicks in, and the dollar goes further south against the euro. Right now, not too bad....

I hope this helped, :-)

As a person who's goal was to make it into the top 100, it was a long hard battle. But the battle never stops. You hit 100, then you want 90, you hit 90 and then you want 80, and so on and so for. I say congrats for making it this far, but now this is where the competition comes into play.

THIS... IS... FOLDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really depends a lot on where you are in the US too, especially if you're city has a CO-OP utilities setup... Where I live we pay ~$0.16 per killowatt hour. Which is ridiculous, our rates have more than doubled in the 4yrs I've lived here. Still if you want to save a fair amount of change there are a few options available to you.

While the Distribution board (Breaker box to some) was never intended to be used as an absolute on/off switch, it just so happens that using it as such can help lower utilities costs with little to no impact otherwise. If there are rooms or areas in your house that you rarely use then flip corresponding circuit breaker to the off position. The hot water heater constantly cycling itself on and off is a source of huge energy consumption, turn it on and allow it to fully cycle through heating the water it contains then turn it off, you should be good for at least a shower or two over the course of the next couple of days(depends on size of the unit). Finally I only use the AC/air handler units when temps finally break above 85°F, otherwise I have both circuit breakers in the off position. Oh, and if you're really an energy stickler, you should unplug all large electronics not in use, as they draw power even when they're "off"(Or you could just cut power for the entire circuit they're on). When I leave on trips/vacations I cut off all but the Fridge circuit @ the Distrubtion board...

I've lowered my energy consumption from ~1000-1200kWh to ~300-500kWh per moth, which due to the obscene rates in my local saves me in excess of $100 per month

-EDIT-

The 300-500 kWh figure also reflects 1 desktop and 1 lappy running nearly 18hrs a day.
