Make sure the phone you get from those sites is quad band. They are unlocked and will work with any GSM carrier.

i wouldn't even bother with the iphone. its missing a lot of key features and theres really not that much freedom with it. blackberry's are pretty nice. if youve never had a "candy bar" style phone then really consider before getting one. i used to have the sidekick 2 and it was just bulky in the pocket and for what i could do just wasn't worth its size. protecting the screen is also and issue that just isn't as large when it comes to flip phones. i own http://www.htcamerica.net/products/3125/default.html and ive watched movies, sync up with a bluetooth gps, listen to music, surf the web, set up with my emails, and have a lot of software on it. only thing it lacks is the wifi but im not really within range of internet accessible wifi that often when not at home and away from the computer

The iphone looks nice for homebrew apps and such, it also has a sexy interface. If you do decide on the iphone wait until june or so, I think theirs gonna be a newer version and/or software/firmware update coming out that supports 3g and other extras.

As for the Blackberry, i have a pearl and i love it. Takes a while to figure out all the ins and outs but it shouldn't deter you. The only problem i can think of is that sometimes it freezes or hangs and i have to take out the battery and restart to get it working again. (the startup after battery removal is disgustingly slow)
