Radeon X800 not working properly

Thread Starter
I bought my ATI radeon X800 back when I first got my computer about 2 years ago. Up until recently everything was working fine, but I have been having this problem where when I restart/turn off my computer when I turn it back on, the card wont work and the computer will switch over to the onboard card, which is a NVIDIA® GeForce® 6100 GPU.
Let me list some stuff I have tried already:

1) I have disabled the Onboard card in the Device Manager
2) I have taken the little battery out of the MoBo for an hour then put it back in (gateway told me to do that)
3) I have gone into BIOS and made the PCI-e slot the primary graphics slot

Also on another note, sometimes I have been able to restart my computer and the problem would fix itself.. but that isn't a permanent fix, as when ever I shutdown/restart the PC the problem begins again.

Any help would be greatly apreciated - Mydget

So does the card actually work? My thought is the card is dying so its randomly not detecting it and just going to onboard video.

Have you tried reinstalling your GPU drivers? I know thats a dumb suggestion but its worth a shot.

Couple more things to try:
Reseating it
Making sure the molex is plugged in
Trying a different molex connector

You never know, could be something stupid like that.

Hey, thanks for the replies. The graphics card does work on and off, and I have tried reinstalling the drivers but that did not work.

Also, I have tried reseating the card, and I dont think my card even has molex.

I would be thinking motherboard/bios if it is on startup.
