What to spend $600 on

Thread Starter
So Bush just signed an economic stimulus bill, so everyone that made more than $3000 last year is getting $600 dollars or so in may, more if you have kids or are married less im sure for some reasons, so the question is:

What are you gonna waste money on?

Me I think I am going to buy a Striker II Mobo and maybe a Q6600, what do you think and what are you gonna buy?

Avoid the striker and get a reference SLi board. Like a eVGA/ XFX 780i (or 680i). Or even better, just get a P35 mobo, a Q6600 and a new video card.

don't get a 9800xxx card... so not worth it.

I agree with the reference sli board idea.

get the evga 780i, a Q6600 and at least 1 8800GT/9600GT.
good enough

Well we are getting $1200 (married), I am hoping to buy a pair of used 3850s(hopefully my 580W mushkin can handle them), and a B3 phenom.

EDIT: why is this in intel section?

First I have to say JoBlo i love your avatar and if i get any new card it wont be a 9xxx anything until i see new drivers and better benchmarks and the thread

This is in the intel section because im a noob and couldnt find a proper section and since i wanted opinions on the q6600 and mobo i figured it was as good as any

On the dates i read it was starting in May somewhere, guess i should have checked my sources , but september for me, so thats better doesnt that put us in Nehiem(sp) launch and DDR3 land?

ps and yes i plugged one of my own posts, shame on me

I was thinking of spending it on 6 $100 hookers or 100 $6 hookers.... we'll have to see what happens lol.....

Seriously though the q6600 is a great buy right now and with a govt rebate check to burn I'd say go for it! IMO I'd go for a P35 board... I've got a Gigabyte DS3L with a Q6600 and I couldn't be happier!

A P35 or nice x38 basic board and a 8800GT or G92 8800GTS should be a good combo.
