Best 24/7 OC for Rig (E6300)

Thread Starter
So... I will have a couple of in approx. a month and I would like to get my moneys worth out of my sig rig... that is after all one of the initial reasons PC's were OC'ed... to get the most (processing power) for the least (money)...

I would love recommendations, tips etc.

What I am aiming for is a cost effective 24/7 OC that will get the most from my hardware but also mileage.

Some of the things I am aiming for are to keep my current CPU, but I will have to upgrade PSU and also the mobo must go... (maybe later if the budget holds I will go for a GPU upgrade too)... better memory perhaps? These are the considerations... money vs. performance...

I will update soon with more specific info on my CPU (if it is L2 or B2 etc.)... What would be a realistic OC (and what cooling will I require)?...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hardware to replace:
  • Mobo - What chipset... Intel or nvidia...hmmm - $????.??
  • Memory - 2 or 4 GB - Crucial Ballistix 800 (PC2 6400) - $90.00 to $180.00 (Expensive!)

$ I have - To be updated | $ spent - To be updated | $ left -To be updated

my rig setup takes me to 3.4 ghz but i lack the cooling to stay there. im perfectly stable at 3.1 with decent temps though. i really like the evga 680i for a motherboard. and my recent buy in corsair xms2 ddr2-800mhz is looking promising. id recommend it or crucial ballistix pc6400 800mhz, it has a great reputation.

Thx for the advice Nailuj... I wil have to look into the Pro's and Con's of the different chipsets... I was thinking going to P35 route but ya... still some thinking and asking and deliberating to come

Would a 3.5Ghz OC (FSB of 500Mhz) be a feasable 24/7 OC for a 6300 and what cooling would be required (CPU and other componants)... it just sounds cool 500Mhz FSB... roles of the tongue...

My E6300 is at 3.3Ghz 24/7 with a IP35-E motherboard (which I love to death).
