Q9450 Prices - Page 2

Until these chips start hitting 4Ghz+ consistently, the best option in the CPU market is still the 65nm Q6600.

4Ghz! You'd need some FSB to do that

Q9450 will require 500Mhz FSB to hit 4Ghz
Q9550 will require 471Mhz FSB to hit 4Ghz

Q6600 will require 445Mhz FSB to hit 4Ghz <-------- Sensible option

Yup, going 45nm Quad is more trouble than it's worth...unless of course you can afford a QX9650 (which i sure can't, well i can but not on top of 2x GX2's ).

It seems the best option is the Q6600 G0, many hit 3.6Ghz+ and not to mention performance between 65nm Quad and 45nm Quad is like zero. I am picking up a G0 soon or maybe the Q6700 because that baby has a 10x Multi and is likely to drop in price very soon.

Agreed. If it is a single GPU, the Q6600, a nice P35 board and some DDR2-800 ram are the best for the money now.

the price is 316 for OEM trays of 1000 chips. not the retail chips.

though I don't know the conversion rate so I can't say anything else on how this converts to US bucks.

Yeah, even though the Q9450 looks nice, I wasn't paying attention to multi on it.

It's nice to know that almost a year later, the decision I made is still the best one I could have made. Now I'm just looking to pick up a TRUE and push my CPU to 3.6GHz This is the first decision I've made in terms of a CPU/Mobo/RAM combo that hasn't outdated itself within the first year, woohoo!
