Exactly; the vast majority of Vista "sales" come from bundled OEM packages. I say sell the hardware without the software if the customer wants it; that's why I love building my own machines.

Want to complain about Microsoft not supporting a 6 year old piece of Software? Suck it up and wipe away the tears. You want to keep buying and using XP? Great, get Vista Basic.

No Aero, No Media Ceter, No tons of features like Premium and up. Plus a lot fewer security problems than XP.

Hate what Microsoft is doing? Okay then I suggest you shut the hell up and move to Linux/Mac OS

Yes, yes, yes! Some people here don't like to understand this.

Some exemplary support: my aunt uses windows 95. It does everything she could possibly want a computer to do. Why is "vista the future" for her? What reason could you possibly give her to get her to go out and upgrade to a brand new computer and a $260+ OS (I don't believe you can use an upgrade version on an OS as old as win 95).

Another example: my dad uses windows 2000 for his business. He uses Quattro Pro and Word Perfect, both 1993 programs or something. They do everything he asks of a computer. What could you possibly say to him to justify the purchase of a new computer and a new OS?

Me: I play games (well I did) and I do school work. How can you justify to me to get vista when XP runs all my games and software, faster than vista, if I might add?

Edit: I feel I need to note this again before the defend-o-maniacs get me: nowhere in my post did I say that I hate vista.

One must understand this, as technology moves foward there will be some who do not need to move at the speed it is evolving at. That being said the reason for upgrading depends on the motivation and needs of the user. The evenutal fact is that as a point and time every OS will not longer be a viable choice to users. Then said user will go out and either buy a new OEM PC or build on from scrath. At which time they will more than likey buy the newer OS as the older one might not available.

The fact is the PC world is contantly moving those why try to keep up have to spend alot to do it.

This week I personaly built my family a new PC. Its running a E6750 on a Gigabyte P35-DS3L with 2GBs or DDR2-800 and a Radeon 2600XT all on Vista Home Premium. All in all they spent a little under $750 Now some will say thats alot of dough for a family PC, but as the sister gets more into the feild of grphic arts and my parents run more and more resource consuming apps it will still last many years for them.
