Best hard drive setup?

Thread Starter
I have a 160G Exelstor SATA II drive (I know, not the best) and a WD 74G Raptor SATA drive. I got the raptor after getting my PC, so I still have Vista and most of my games on the 160G drive. Beings the Raptor is smaller, I know I would run out of space fast if I put everything on it. Would it work better if I put Vista on the Raptor as my primary drive and install games on the 160G drive, or what would be the best setup. Or, would there really be any noticable difference anyway?

Thanks for the input.

I would install Vista along with your most used applications and whatever games you are playing at any given time on the Raptor, then install all secondary applications and games on the 160GB.

If I had your setup, I would go ahead and put Vista on the Raptor. I'd also put frequently used programs (i.e. your games) on the Raptor as well, and use the 160GB drive for storage.

Good luck with all that, I personally hate installing OS's and applications over and over, but it has to be done.

I hate to do it also, so that is why I was wondering if there would be any noticable difference or not to warrant the work of a reinstall.

Having your OS + it's cache, and any other programs run from a speedy HDD will give you a performance gain. If that's noticeable to you, I can't say. You probably won't notice a huge gain, but that's not to say it won't improve overall performance.
