The Best 8xxx/9xxx Series Card for P4

My sucky Dell Dimension 8400 is in need of a new graphics card. What's the best mid-range 8xxx/9xxx series card that I can get that won't bottleneck the Pentium 4 Hyperthreading @ 3.0GHz?

If you still have the 320Mb GTS, I'd stick with that. You won't notice much of a difference if you switch out cards. At least not enough of one to justify the money spent on the upgrade...
My 2 cents...

EDIT:
Nevermind, You have a second tower..
I'd say go for the 9600gt. It's cheap, and it should run nicely on the dell. Or course, check your PSU to make sure it can handle the upgrade though...

You can have P4 run latest GPU but won't take full advantage of it so I would say 8600GT/GTS. Not every DELL rig comes with good PSU except XPS and OptiPlex so you need to check it out first.

There is no 8xxx/9xxx card that is good for a Pentium 4. I put my 8800GTS 320MB in my bro's system once. He has a Pentium 4 631 3.0GHz and 1GB of RAM, We tried to run oblivion at med spec and it was running all kinds of slow. He was getting like 20-30FPS on medium settings.

Were as I can run Crysis on high settings at a nice res with the same card, Just in my system.

I say upgrade you CPU and MOBO now and then get a nice GPU later when the 8xxx cards become cheaper.

I guess that will be the plan. My main gaming tower will be the donater for my Dell in the future (that's if I can't cough up enough money). Rep+ for those who provided suggestions.

I had a 3ghz p4 and it even bottlenecked my 6800ultra it was that bad lol.

So i would say go no higher than a 8600gt.
