Erm, it's a metaphor.

The smoke, mirrors & rocket blasters are analogous with jumping. Get it?

I don't know what analogous means but I'm guessing metaphor means I just made a fool of myself?

yes, in this case they do. they use the SAME CORE! and the clocks are slightly higher. i would put money on a bet that an 8800GT with the exact same clocks as a 9800GT will get almost IDENTICAL 3dmark scores and almost IDENTICAL performance in games. already the 9800gx2 scores are less than impressive along with the 9800gtx.

These cards are placeholders, we'll see what happens with the GT200 but these cards are honestly a joke.

Its either identical or not ;P Can't be almost identical
Anyway, we know that R700 and G100/200 are gonna launch somewhere between summer and end of year. There is no reason to push to the limits. They have products that smoke the equivalent of ATI so why release the monster now?

Remember compare apples to apples!

I'm curious to see what this does to 8800GT & GTS G92 pricing...

I was readying my trigger finger this week but it looks like it may be "safety on" for another week or two!

9600GT is G94, not G92. That's why.

Still 9800GT/GTX/GX2 uses G92.

If you look at the people that get these graphics cards most of them dont know what are they getting. A need will always think 9800GTX is by far much better the 8800GTX. I bet 90% of people that by video cards only look at things like core memory speed and memory size. Nvidia has earnd its place with 8800 so it now its taking advantage of it.

Correct
9600GT = G94
9500GT = G96 ?
9400 series = ?

Such as 8800Ultra = G80+, GTX, GTS = G80
8600GTS, GT = G84
8500GT, 8400GS = G86

So the statements about the 9600GT seem to be invalid, considering the 9800GT/GTX/GX2 uses G92.

nVidia lazy? I don't think so. I reckon 3-Way SLi 9800GT's is the best 3 - Way SLi set-up ever! Why? You can still fit a Azuntech Prelude 7.1 in the gap.

As far as new chipsets is concerned then yes, this is basically a 8800GT with 2 x SLi pin connectors.
