Seems to me that the OS may see it, but it is not using it. Run "dxdiag" to confirm that you are not in fact using all 4GB

Ya, I went from 145GB free to 197GB. I knew that it was taking up more space than needed. I just defraged my computer like 4 or 5 time to get all the space back. Its nice to see they fixed it.

Well the latest Nvidia drivers did the exact same problem that using the drivers updated through Windows Update did. So yes, I do believe that Vista finds vendor drivers. I know it did for my sound card. Reinstalled Vista and one of the updates was for Soundblaster Audio drivers. Ran the update and all the soundblaster stuff is there. Didn't have to do anything other than run Windows Update.

Lol.
Because I'm stupid. I ended up reinstalling Vista. Worked on this from 6PM to about 2AM yesterday. In the end, SP1 is installed and everything is working. Today I'm in the process of reinstalling all my programs that I had on there. This probably wasn't a bad idea anyway, I probably had a lot of programs that didn't need to be installed so it's good to have a fresh start again.

Haha, seriously. Can't you get cheap DSL/Cable for not much more than dial-up anyways?

Thats not usually the problem. some people, especially those in rural isolated area's would be lucky to get a phone line, nevermind one thats capable of a high speed connection.

So, these "people" are worried about the latest updates for their Vista capable
machines....and deal with dial-up? I can't imagine that was the seller's motivation for the listings. Ebay sickens me at times.

I have 3 computers in my house all with Vista. I did the reg hack to my laptop and my #1 PC about 2 weeks ago. I did not do the reg hack to PC #3, just to see how long it would take to do "on it's own" and to see if the KB numbers for SP1 were in fact the same. Computer #3 got SP1 "by itself" last night. All 3 computers now have SP1 and all 3 say that it's KB936330. So I'm going say it's safe to assume the reg hack trick was the exact same thing and you won't have to do anything.
