Higher-binned silicon; better overclocking potential (supposedly). I think they have a higher thermal limit as well.

seems like a good deal.

did the E8400 have some sort of issue? if so is that resolved with the Xeons?

Both the E3110 and the E8400 have a lower voltage tolerance than the older 65nm chips; however, they are both fantastic overclockers! The Xeon for $200 is a real steal!

Yeah I think the max safe voltage is 1.3625 vCORE, I'll see if I can find a link...

-EDIT-

Actually the e8400 and e3110 have different VID ranges,

e8400 = 0.85V – 1.3625V
e3110 = 0.956V - 1.225V

I'm pretty sure the absolute max you want to push vCORE is 1.4, honestly I'd try and keep it around the max VID or less if at all possible(1.3625).

They should take 1.4V but just because the silicon is higher binned doesn't mean that they are necessarily better overclockers, just that they are less prone to heat damage. My Xeon 3060 is actually not that wonderful of an overclocker despite being the exact analog of the E6600. This is certainly still a great deal!

Yes, they OC like crazy...but I really suggest keeping the voltage under 1.4V as a bunch of people on this forum have killed their chips running them over 1.4V for a couple weeks. They will easily hit 4Ghz stable.
