1066 memory running @ 800 on GB-MA770 w/ Phenom - Help

Thread Starter
I've got a Gigabyte mobo MA770 AM2+ along with 2x1GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC8500 RAM running in dual-channel mode. My processor is the Phenom 9500 @ 2.2GHz. The RAM is guaranteed to run at 1066MHz at 2.2v at 5-5-5-15, however when I set the RAM multiplier in the BIOS from x4.0 to x5.33 and set the voltage settings to Auto, my mobo won't POST. So I go in and try to set the voltage settings manually but the maximum setting I have available is 2.175 and when I set it to that I get a POST and my OS loads but it is not stable at all, as soon as I start doing anything, it fails. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Beyondthearc, have you tested each stick of memory with memtest? If you can, download the .iso and burn it to a CD. You should be able to boot to the CD directly after POST. Make sure to run tests 5 and 8 each for a couple of hours. Perhaps you received a bad/faulty stick of memory and your not aware of it yet. Make sure also that the frequency speed is displayed correctly in the BIOS (1066mhz).

Good luck
