Instead of blaming vista, why dont you blame futuremark for not releasing a patch for ultimate vista compatibility?
Why should a patch, designed to make things work better, to fix things, decrease performance? That is the main issue.

True, but by how much? Not much.

At what price? A high one.

Why the hell do people care what their 3d Mark06 scores are. Talk about a big waste of time. Overclock your system and tweak it run stable, who cares what your score is? Does it run the games you want, and perform all the necessary functions you need it to, then what is the point of a synthetic score that means absolutely nothing.

The point is that vista's SP1 is, in fact, DECREASING performance...

You realize the point of updates is to FIX things, right?

I don't understand why the defend-o-maniacs rush to justify this abomination out of their love for this operating system.

What is so hard to understand? Vista + sp1 DECREASES performance. New topic, please...

With the exception of Crysis, I still get a constant 60fps (v-synced) in all my games, doesn't really make a difference at all. And everything else on my computer is faster. 3dmark is just for nerds who want a bigger e-penis

Decreases synthetic benchmarks. It increases things that most people do, like copy files from one location to another. This might be a news flash but not everyone plays games on their computers.

Also, it is probably something that will fixed in a couple weeks with an update from the video card companies.

I've found basically everything faster with SP1, except for 3DMark, which went down about 200 points.

It's decreasing performance in one particular situation. It's made everything else better.

o big deal have u seen a performance drop. as said on another thread. let technology catch up with OS. if u dont like it go back to xp then. 300 points are nothing. 3dmark points are nothing it the games performance that matters

Raised my 3DMark06 score by 37 points and I get five more FPS in Crysis, so I sure can't complain.

Well I guess we're both kinda right. You've surely seen the news thread on SP1 and gaming performance:

http://www.overclock.net/software-ne...p1-gaming.html

In some games (and at some res's), there is a performance increase, while in others there is a decrease. Ideally, we should be seeing all increases, though, of course.
