just take a look at the S1283 and you will know why.

By the way, everyone have a different budget or spending mentality, I surely won't insult them with comment like their pocket is not deep enough. Especially when you talking about what?....$30? $60? $90? So you think your pocket is deep because you bought a TRUE?
Actually, you've misconstrued my comment. I am ALL for not spending too much. I have one of Xigmatek's coolers (the same S1283 you mentioned) on my testing rig just waiting for me to have some time to evaluate its performance.

I'm only saying that it's great that there are manufacturers around who can offer high-grade performance for a low price. If my comment was taken as an insult, I want to assure you it was NOT meant to be.

My apologies for not being clear enough.

No....I should be the one that appologize....I quoted the wrong post and replied base on it....it should be against this post.....sorry about that.

Again I really wouldn't call them cheap people because they are not spending on TRUE.

I actually just bought this CPU cooler and I've been quite happy with it so far. My only problem with it is the exposed heatpipes on the bottom which pretty much takes lapping out of the question. Due to this I am planning on getting a different CPU cooler in the near future so I can lap it.

Question: Why lap, if you don't need to?

What I'm curious about (and what I'll test sometime) is how Xigmatek's exposed heatpipes might affect CPUs with no IHS installed. On a K8 dual-core, not all of the heatpipes will be in contact with the exposed die.

I'm still waiting for a screen with your temps with 2 instances of orthos running. Last time you posted a screen you only had 1 instance running which is not properly testing your quad. Your temps would go up...

The xigmatek is good bang for the buck, but definitely not as good as a TRUE. Until I see a screen with orthos being run properly and your temps shown, i will continue to be a non believer.

And also Xigmatek has issues with fins coming off fairly easy.

I am not of the opinion that Xigmatek's are good b4b coolers. There are better alternatives if you don't have the coin to invest $70 on a HSF.

How? $25 when they are on sale is tough to beat considering they do cool fairly well. Its nothing compared to the TRUE though... considering quality, performance
