There is always a major flaw in everything, but that doesn't change the fact he was a bad ass. Nobody/nothing is perfect.

Or watch the movie.

This guy gets more action than any other HSF.

I wished my only weakness was in my heel...If this heatsink is anywhere near the level of awesomeness as Achilles was in Greek Mythology...it'll be full of win.

(I guess rage was a flaw too...but I'm not going to discuss that here )

Despite the name, if its review does it justice, I can see myself buying one.

Quite appropriately, the Achilles does have one fatal flaw, and oddly enough it is it's heel! (ZOMG)

Apparently, the addition of the fourth 8mm HDT heatpipe; and staggered-pipe configuration,
has actually reduced the size of the contact area's "footprint".
See the Illustration on page 5 of the BMR Review (Test notes and Methodology)

This has in-turn dropped the total performance considerably!
From second place for the 1283 (Right behind the OCZV2) - to 5th or 6th place for the newer, better, 1284.

I'd call that type of drop in performance, a
"Fatal Flaw"; and, definitely it's "Achilles Heel"
Cheers ALL

[Edit] I wouldn't be soo quick to blame it on the Heatsink spread;
If you look at the picture -sure, the pipe bits are missing along the periphery of the IHS, but the area over the Core(s) is fully covered right?
Only little slivers of "Pipe-to IHS" contact area are missing on only two pipes!
All the rest are overhanging on the other side)

I might buy one but at this moment I am guessing under regular condition S1284 won't perfor much better than 1283 but under extreme condtion it should do better. Just a guess =D

besides, I don't understand why they come out with the luxury version first but the regular version.
