Upgrading my GPU

Thread Starter
I have some extra money from birthday, and building some computers for some friends after upgrading to my Q6600.

So I think it's time to upgrade my GPU. What should I go for?

1. 8800GT 512mb
2. 8800GTS 640mb
3. 9600GT 512mb
4. ???

What are your guys' suggestions?

+1 for 8800gts if its in your budget else the 8800gt should be a worthwhile upgrade too.

This 8800GTS 512mb looks promising, and it's in my price range:

That is by far the best option. I recently purchased it and have yet to be dissapointed. It is the best bang for your buck, and from what I hear since it is a G92 it runs near the speeds of a GTX and can be overclocked quite high.

The other options don't compare. The 640Mb GTS is about the same as the GT, and the 9600 though cheap is not as powerful.

If you do decide on the 512 GTS I'd suggest going with Evga as their warranty, RMA department, and step up program are awesome. I would go with the GT or 512 GTS and nothing else.

Edit: Don't go with the open box, as it is $259.99 with no rebate. Where as if you get the retail one it may be ten dollars more, but after rebate is only $239.99.

I think I'm gonna go with the EVGA 8800GTS 512mb, I used to have a 7950gt, and it was great (EVGA Card). Their cust. support and warranty is very good.

Thanks for the help!

You won't regret it Let me know what you think of it when it's all up and going, overclocked it should provide a huge increase in 3dmark06, especially in your rig.

Hurry on ordering it as you must have an invoiced purchase by March 31st or you won't be eligible for the rebate.
