Strip down xp pro - Page 2

If you are willing to invest the time, nLite is an amazing program for altering Windows before it is even installed. You can apply hundreds of changes, remove almost everything, tweak settings (many involving speed), and even have it automatically install programs on first boot up for you. It isn't hard at all to use, and it's free. The only thing to warn you about is that if you go removal crazy, lots of things tend to stop working. After about a year working with nLite, my copy of XP uses around 60 megs of RAM on first boot, it installs Firefox, VLC, codecs, drivers, foobar and numerous other programs automatically on first boot too.

nLite can also create unattended setups, where after you select the drive to install to in the blue screen portion of the Windows set up, you don't need to enter any additional information, it will set it self up.

To solve your problem, I sincerely suggest you check your computer for spyware and adware first, because they can drastically slowdown your computer. And then, you shuld keep your registry error- free, due to the fact that registry is one of the key component in the computing. Hope my tips can solve your problem.
