I know that 2142 does not support wide screen but I know you can use (adding "C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Battlefield 2142\\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 to the .exe)
The problem is that the screen does black for a moment them the game just ends and I am sitting at the desktop
does anyone know how to fix this.

Are you doing it to the shortcut on your desktop and using only the shortcut on the desktop to launch the game?

It should work...

Does it do it only when having those extra parameters?

shouldn't your res be 1920x1080? I've never seen 1920x1200, but then again i've never used a 24" monitor either.

the 24" is 16:10 not 16:9 like a TV would be

I actually had this problem today. It used to work for me while running 1440x900 with that option, but now it doesn't. I had to reinstall it and it worked. I even put the Video configs to the default 1024x768 but it still didn't work.
