Whats the recomended voltage to run 4 gigs?

Thread Starter
I'm too lazy for trial and error...can someone tell me what the min voltage to run 4 gigs is? I've got a P5K and the mem is OCZ 6400 rev 2 platinum.

If you're not overclocking, set it to the RAM's (not motherboard's) default voltage. It should say on their box.

2.1 or 2.2v seems to be the sweet spot for DDR2. Over 2.2v voids the warranty on a lot of ram, so I wouldnt exceed that amount. That isnt a minimum, but a lot of ram starts around 1.8v.

i think the rated voltage for that ram is 1.8v, i could be wrong though. Ocz is pretty good about their warranties though, they let you go to 2.2v before voiding it.

According to OCZ's website, they're rated at 1.9v - 2.1v. Anything below 2.1v should be fine if you're not madly overclocking them.

I would just try different amounts until you get it right. If it wont post at 1.8, try 1.9. Then 2.0. There are only so many options available..

Everybody seems right on the money. Use the default voltage as supplied by the manufacturer if you don't plan on overclocking. Those particular modules have an extra voltage protection on them up to 2.2volts.

Info on your memory can be found here.

You -may- have to give your northbridge voltage a small bump if even stock settings and voltage becomes unstable because you need to draw more power since you're using addtional modules.

Don't worry about that part until you find that you're getting instability though and use it as a last resort. No use using extra juice if the problem is caused by something else.
