yea im tired of my 256mb 7950GT. its a good card and has stood happily behind me but for widescreen gaming with more recent games, its becoming a problem. any suggestions? i like the 8800GT 512mb because its in my price range, and i could possible SLI in the future. but will it hold up for that long? since all new cores are coming out? any other recommendations?

Whats your budget?

The 9800GX2 was just released at $600 which is over 2x faster than that 8800GT.

The 8800GT and revised 8800GTS would also be good choices if you can't afford the 9800GX2.

I think the 9800GTX is coming out soon and is priced at $300 as well, so you could wait.

Yep, the 8800GT is the best card for your price range, and you'll even have a little cash to spend on more RAM...

The 9800GX2 is not even close to being over twice as fast as an 8800GT. In most of the real world benchmarks that have been posted on this site it's only about 20-25% faster than a single 8800GT. It’s just a waste on money.

I would just go with a single 8800GT and overclock the hell out of it. It’s the only card Nvidia currently offers that’s actually worth the money

Agreed, its not pulling around 17-19k 3dmarks like 2 8800GT's do.

The 8800GT/S are the best value cards out at the moment. I personally have BIOS modded my GT. I have reached 795/1790/1010(2020DDR) on the stock cooler. Hopefully when I can afford WCing, I will break that 800mhz core marker!
