Interesting article. Food for thought if there is a heat issue, as stated earlier in the thread.

oh
But the 8800gts(g92) is still an amazing card?

But really that 9800gx2 is going to cost(here in australia) like 1090 dollars even though the australian dollar is close the USD. The sad thing is that newegg doesn't ship O/S. or else I will buy it there.

That's not real surprising from the positioning of the south bridge cooling on that board. They said they didn't encounter that issue on other 780i boards so I wouldn't be to concerned. With the additions on the 780i boards to support tri-sli on the south bridge I figured it would require some extra cooling either way.

That's the route I'm going. I have two 8800 G92 cards right now from Evga and paid $339 for each of them. They are both still in their step-up period by a large margin so for a whole $10 I should be able to step-up to the 9800gtx cards and if tri-sli really scales the way they are claiming with the 9 series add a 3rd one a few months down the road. Even if it turns out they are just slightly cooler and draw less power then the 8800 cards its still a win-win for me.

Well this PC should have been bought last Oct but due to the fact that newer tech was round the corner I thought that it is better to wait a couple of months. So now am not going to wait more. It that would be better (that is what is suppose to be) I could still sell my 9800GTX and earn a profit here locally since I would have bought them cheap from the US
