Q6600 does perform slightly better than Phenom @ 2.6GHz. Check this benchmark

So, there is no doubt that Q6600 is overall better performer than Phenom 9850 at stock speeds.
Also, it seems that Phenom 9850 is a power-hungry CPU because it have high TDP and it doesn't overclock as good as Q6600

Q6600 is currently selling at $250 and it supposed to drop to $220 on April

AMD should sell Phenom 9850 for under $200 if it want to compete with intel
argh!!! why the hell did you just have to post this, i mean, no one cares. so what if amd is sucking right now, at least it doesn't cost $1,000+ for damn quad core.

hahaahahahahahaha QFT!!

Its sooooooooo funny because I just bought 2 Phenoms and 2 C2Qs... I OCd the Phenoms to 2.75ish and the C2Qs to 3.4 and I cant really tell the diff in normal computing!

However, they perform almost the same in encoding, with the C2Qs taking the Phenoms by like 6-7 FPS @ 7k bitrate.

If the BEs can OC to 3+, then I will definitely buy them... since they rock C2Qs @ encoding

i like how a 2.5ghz to 3.0ghz is "magical" for an AMD processor LOL

it nearly brings a tear to my eye

If you knew anything about AMD 3.0ghz has always been the mark to hit unlike intel they didn't need to overclock that high.

Funny how people who dont have the 9850 are gullable to just agree with what they said with magical 3 Ghz. I have run my phenom 9850 at 3.2ghz for about 3 days now without any harm. The new B3 stepping is alot better than the B2 aka pehnom 9600 BE which couldnt OC for crap. I did a stabillity for 10 mins, then got bored . but still i have had it at 3.2ghz for 3 days and without any freeze ups. I am running Zalman 9700, which helps alot

Let the stability test run overnight. While you sleep.

10 minutes isn't going to prove anything.

lol when i first saw this, i thought AMD was gonna make some 9950 BE or something.

I remember another post in another forum people uped a post like 1 or 2 years ago. Some guy was asking about sli 7950's or 7950GTx2 or x1950XT crossfired or something like that vs. 8800GTS 320. But some random new guy said the 9600GT was the best card and crap like that.

(puts on flame suit)
I hope AMD gets back on their game i miss when people bashed my good old P4. Plus competition means low prices and better technology. I think its time for AMD to rethink their architecture its been around for a good 8 years or so(doesn't recall exact number of years). AMD doesn't need to compete on the high end now they need to make money for research so don't complain about them not sending out monster quad cores that aren't necessary. The only thing that has taken full advantage of my 2 cores at the moments is crysis and thats really it so i think its good they are aiming for comeback of the year.
