so on my current rig i know a 3850 would be bottlenecked by my CPU but what about my PCIE bandwidth only at 8x =/

A single 3850 on a x8 link would lose MAYBE 1 fps out of a hundred compared to a x16 link.

Wow that was a close one. I was literally an hour away from getting another HD3870 to Crossfire my rig. Guess I'll wait until next week now. Looks like AMD is responding to the 9600GT threat by pricing the HD3870 below it. But doesn't the 3870 score just a tab higher then the 9600gt? If so then getting a 3870 at the lower price is a great deal.
