Run small FFT - this is CPU Intensive. If CPU Intensive passes - we can rule that out as an issue

EDIT: 5-6 hours for a quick test... 8 hours if you want to be 100% sure its stable

EDIT2: Theres also OCCT - its quicker to reveal weaknesses (1 hr proves stable most of the time) but it rarely proves false positives or negatives

i ran small fft for 6+ hours passed, i reran memtest 86 latest edition 8 hoours passed. He found the reformat disk, i tried it and got the bsod. i swapped the hard drive with one from another computer and got it to bot up bus still got the bsod. I put his hard drive in my test computer and got a bsod on that too. Those could be a driver issue, i assume. I am leaning towards replacing the mobo and upgrade the cpu??? what do you think?

Try unplugging everything except the vital system parts. Nothing plugged into the computer, no unncecessary PCI card; just graphics card, mouse, keyboard, optical drive, primary hdd, monitor. Then see if you have problems.

i tried that, i also tried swapping the power supply and the vid card. I really think its the motherboard, do you guys agree? the only thing that gets me is that if i put the hd in my test pc i get the bsod? but if i put anyother hd in the pc with the problems i get the bsod also. I told my friend to upgrade the mobo and the processor. i really hope i am right. do you guys think so???

Your system is just unstable.

Play around with voltages and your overclock.

How long did you run memtest? You should run at least 10 passes.

Has it ever been cleaned out, perhaps its a heat issue that is causing all this grief.
Check the HS.
