In your bios for your CPU do you have the option to increase your multipliers for your CPU or is it only the FSB you can increase?

If it is the FSB, set your ram to slowest speed and up the FSB by 5-10. Download a software called prime95 and run it for 5 minutes to make sure it passes. For now 5 minutes is enough. Once you get your desired speed increase your ram speed to the speed it should be and once again run prime95 (free download) for 5 minutes to test stability.

If all goes well, i recommend you do a 6-12hr prime95 test to make sure all is well. if it passes that test then your system is stable and good to go. Do however keep an eye on your temps, especially with stock cooling as they can rise quite high.

this is just to get you started. But it is a good starting point for ya

i just stumbled across this link

http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html

That is where you should start. Once you have figured out your limits post the results here, otherwise my first post is also ok. Just depends how much you wanna know and how far you wanna go

Hi there im not familiar with your bios but where you set the ram timings which you state are 2.5,4,4,8 set these to AUTO and the 400mhz set it to the lowest possible, its either 100 or 200mhz.

As for multipliers the proper way to do this is to increase the FSB and lower the multiplier. But since your new to this i would recommend initially upping the Multiplier by 1 and running prime95 for 5 minutes to make sure all is stable and rinse and repeat. Though you should easilly hit 10. Is 10 your highest multiplier? if so try lowering your multiplier by either .5 or 1 and increase the FSB by 5-10 (Dont make any major jumps 5-10 is about average) If your system starts to restart lower the multiplier a bit more leaving the FSB the same till you get a stable running machine.

After a certain OC you will have to start increasing the voltage of your CPU. Only slight increases are required till you get stability. By slight i mean something as low as 0.025 could be all thats needed of course that is if you have the option for this.

I think that should be enough for now, i dont wanna over load you with too much.

Try what i said keeping a keen eye on temps. Good LUck with the OC and most importantly have fun

NB: Have you found out your motherboards limits as of yet?

so right now, my
core speed is 2127 MHz
Multiplyer is X9.0
FSB 235.3 MHz
HT Link 1176.4 MHz
core Volt 1.488V (didn't touch this)

current cpu temp after running Prime95 for 10 min 32 C / 89 F Mobo 22 C / 71 F

oh and set ram to 200 Mhz but couldn't put the timing to auto, if i wanted the mhz at 200, if i set it to auto everything goes auto and the 200 goes back to 400.

That guide is for socket AM2, and he's on socket 939. Deathonator's guide is for socket 939 and might be more helpful: Ultimate Overclocking Guide
