GILLOS, i wish it were true, and maybe it is. I believe it will be slightly different then the 8800GTS, The rumor is it will use faster clocked memory (0.8ns vs. 1.0ns), It supposedly will have a slightly higher core voltage, thus it should in theory clock higher. I wish there was more to it, but I really dont think their is. I wil be buying the 9800GTX only bc I have already sold my 8800GTX.

"nVidia has been working on their drivers, the 9600 is a damn fine card. Almost as good as the 8800GT in some tests. I don't care what the card shows on paper, the people at that company can not be so foolish as to release something that is only 5 fps faster then the same card of the last generation. It is pointless. If they wanted to do that they would have done it already with the 8800GT and the 8800GTS v2. They would have been the start of the 9000 series. But NOPE, instead they were lumped in with the 8000 series and not even given the distinction of being a 8900."

"I love my 8800GTS. It's the old school version, but it still is a damn powerful card. I have faith that they will make sure this 9000 series is worth the upgrade. Otherwise EVGA would be on the phone wondering why noone traded in their cards for the new 9000 card. I think that they must have done some tweaks and revisions in order to make this card better."

"I only hope that they will focus on DX10 entirely for the next group of cards. We need them to do that, these ones we have barely can run it."

IMO its all to do with marketing, its like, if you over hype a product (crysis for example) then everyone expects more than what the game gives and therefore are dissapointed, however if you say, meh its barely an upgrade from the old generation then when the real results start coming in we all want to go and buy it.

Hence the reason for the lowered prices on the 8 series, clear them off the shelves cos 'there nearly as good as the next gen cards' as everyone believes. Its a marketing trick that works well and theres always more to hardware like this than there telling us, im sure the 9800GTX will pwn as said by the OP and we all just need to wait and see instead of these constant wars comparing them, it gets boring after the first 2 posts tbf
