[Giz] AnyDVD HD is Here - Page 3

Guys,

There is a legitimate use for this kind of software - to create personal backups of your personally owned media - this is fair use under recognized United States copyright law. I know that the software itself violates the DMCA, but it is not illegal to create personal backups of DVD's: just the cracking of the copy-protection algorithm breaks the law.

Well if they made a linux version that worked with the ps3 then I might be able to use it .

As said above me though, it would be illegal to remove the copy protection from a bluray, even one you own.

Whether it's illegal or not, there is no 100% sure way to stop people from making back ups. The only logical way is to stop making burners for new formats. It would have been pointless to crack DVD or Blu-ray if they didn't make DVD or Blu-ray burners. But it's the burners themselves that entice the cracking software. Its like having a VHS that only plays tapes and can not record. If it can't record, whats the point of buying blank tapes unless its for a video camera?

I've been an Elaborate Bytes and Slysoft ripper for a few years now. It's the best way to backup my own cd's and dvd's. High definition is amazing and worth preserving the quality when burning backups.
