Intel build for 2009

Thread Starter
Hey, Last year from September to December, I was building a new computer. A quad-core system. This system turned out great except for the fact that I never listened to you guys and I bought an AMD Phenom. It's great for saying I have a quad-core but the performance to back up that statement is not there. I was more towards the whole GPU then. I learned a lot from my mistakes then. Now I am going intel since AMD has yet to pull them selves out of the ditch they dug. I am leaning toward these items.

- Intel Q9450
- 4GB or ram (DDR2 if no price drops on DDR3)
- SLi 8800GTS 512 or 9800 GX2
- EVGA 780i (790i if DDR3)
- Waiting for new cases to appear
- Maybe Liquid cooling
- Corsair 750W PSU
- Samsung DVD Burner
- 500GB Seagate 7200.11 32MB
- Getting my Auzen X-Fi Prelude tomorrow. Moving my Prelude to the new system and putting the XtremeGamer in my current system.

Let me know what you think and what I should upgrade. I will not be building till September to December. I am open to all thoughts. Please provide a suggestion and an explanation.

...they'll have new processors, cheaper RAM, new series of video cards, new PSU's, new hard drives. 2009 is a LONG ways away...it's an excellent choice for the immediate, but not for the long run imo

Correct. That's a decent system for now though...

Why not waiting for this thread until you know...it's even REMOTELY close to 2009?

There will be all new gear out by then.

Very nice build! The X-Fi prelude is a true beast of a sound card. Let me know how it is. Also i'm glad your getting rid of you POS Phenom intel FTW

If your building in 2009 I would recommend Nehalem DDR3 and G100 this is based on speculation
