965p dq6 with zalman 9500 installation problem

this is not a crazy cool backplate problem. I removed the backplate without hassle.
I then fitted the heatsink bottom plate and screwed the heatsink mounting attachment on top. so far so good.

however

then next step is two clip the heatsink on with a clip and a clip attachement which clip to the mounting attachment. the problem is that around the cpu there are some large capacitors which block one of the ends of the clip from hooking under the mounting attachment. I tried rotating the mounting attachment by 90 degrees and the same problem. I recon I could do it if I sawed about 3mm of the end of the clip but I don't have the tools for this. I have however heard of people installing it.

has anyone here suceeded and can tell me how they did it? all posts I find are related to the crazy cool backplate being a problem and after this it sounds like its easy. am I missing something here?
