1. Linux is open source under the GPL. There is no "cost" to pay.
2. "crapple" does not use the Linux kernel. It uses its own Darwin kernel.
3. Do your homework.

Yes, now go take your hate towards apple and boycott them. I'm sure they will really feel the loss

Sign of idiocy.

If you don't wanna buy from them don't, but you should realize they are a better company then most. Take your hate somewhere else, we've got enough of it already.

I think vista will be the most secure. I had my friend try to exploit me the other day and he couldnt dent me... hes pretty prolific too.

On the other hand, Leopard has some pretty well known vulnerabilities to the hacking community

And Ubuntu... well, its hackable. just because its UNIX \\ Linux doesn't mean its more secure. I really hate the fallacy that its more secure just because its linux...

You guys, and me included, are talking out your other end

They hold such an incredibly small market share, no one in their right mind would waste time finding vulnerabilities. There have been a few proof of concepts where people have developed viruses for them, but other than that, not much else. Yet, apple seems to be so confident that their OS is immune to viruses and the like.

There is a treasure trove of exploits just waiting for these guys to find.
.. Its like nerd racism.. hahah.

Icredibly small market share? Virus + Unix dont work too well, because a virus MUST be able to self replicate itself. That doesnt happen easily on Unix.

OSX because it's closed source, so there are less people that work on it, and yet it has a small market share, so no one tries to uncover any holes that it might have.
Well, in response to this, Apple hosts events for people to find exploits in their own OS, pays the person who finds exploits, and then they patch them.

Vista? Hmm. I dunno, I dont think theres really anything you can do to completely gain control of OSX, and most exploits ive seen are programs that arnt even 1st party, the PC people seem to jump all over those. However Vista has some neat (albeit annoying) security features.

It'll be interesting though. May even be surprising.

Vista because it's Windows, haha. I mean there are plenty of people attacking it, so the various holes become known, but then again, Microsoft doesn't have the best track record for fixing things either.

Of course, I bet some Ubuntu developer could easily go in there and hack his own code right off the bat, haha.

You don't seem to even understand the fundamental differences between the UNIX design (common to Ubuntu AND Apple) and the windows proprietary design. It's silly that you kids say such things without the slightest idea why - just because you know you "hate" Apple.

You silly child. You made that up. Cute story, though
