Alright, here's the deal:

The judges have submitted their votes, and the votes have been tabulated. We have a winning machine, a 2nd-placed machine, and a 3rd-placed machine. After the announcement of the winners of the contest, which will be done before the day is out on the Pacific coast (sorry, non-West Coasters; by quirk of fate, your judging panel just happens to all be on PST), I'm considering allowing the judges to "explain" (for lack of a better word) how they came to their decisions. I will also disclose the breakdown of votes and points and see how this contest was judged, just for full transparency.

I think we've lost sight of a key element of this whole exercise, and that is this was meant to be a light-hearted and fun activity. For the most part, this contest has been that, and more.

For sure, though, we all need to remind ourselves that above all else, all that we do at Club S939 is for FUN. We poke fun at each other, we make fun of each other, but isn't that what the best of friends do? I know that's how I roll; I'd be you'd say the same.

So take anything "critical" with a grain of salt, because you know how hard you worked to get what you have. At the same time, we all need to "engage brain before activating mouth (or keyboard fingers)."

So, I guess the last thing I want to say about this is: Everyone needs to chill out. Everyone is excited to know what the judges know. The judges need one last time to all talk with each other. After that brief conversation, we can all breathe easy.

1700-1900 PDT for the judges is 2000-2200 EDT for me.

I would be quite happy even with 0000 EDT on the 23rd (2100 PDT on the 22nd).

Unfortunately, for MjrTom, that means 0500 BST on the 23rd, but what can you do? The Socket939 club is international, and tis the nature of the beast.

Not sure I agree that my mods are the most simple, heat producing, and useless but everyone has a right to their opinion.
I do feel that it was inappropriate for one of the contestants to be criticizing the others and a judge to quote the post before the winner was announced.
Posting additional pictures after the final submission date and excessive bumping doesn't sit well with me either.
It just doesn't seem fair to others.

I do use the LCDs quite a bit for watching TV, movies, etc. while on line.
You can drag MBM5 over to the LCD and watch temps and voltages while benchmarking full screen 3D apps.
(Here's a custom MBM5 file for DFI boards if anyone is interested, maybe the winner would find it useful-
http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6798)

The LCDs add very little heat in these cases, certainly less than the BH-5 RAM @ 3.5v, the overclocked Opty, or the Video cards.

Those that like the Plexi base on the WaveMaster may want to review my post here (it's pretty easy to do)
http://www.diy-street.com/forum/show...89&postcount=3

It was a fun contest and I really enjoy seeing pics of others rigs.
Picked up some good ideas from this thread for sure.

But it's also pretty obvious that there are some contestants that need a new motherboard more than I do.

So I have decided to withdraw my entries from the contest.

Thanks for your interest in the rigs and best of luck to the rest of the contestants. Job well done, all of you.

-crazy carl, aka soundx98-

Very nice explanation soundx98, it's such a shame to see you go like this You have some very nice rigs that you added to this contest and I would personally like to thank you for sharing the pictures with us.

As for Iandroo, the most important thing to remember when critisising other rigs, is the fact that not everyone has as much money and/or time on their hands as some ppl on here. IMO some of the things that you said were a little harsh, you didn't seem to point out any of the good things about ppls rigs, maybe I missed it if you did. This is a great group of pictures and if we have another contest in the future in this club, (hopefully we will) just make sure when commenting on other ppls pictures, to also point out some things that you really liked so that we can avoid this mess from happening again.

As for my comment after, about your rig, I am hoping that I didn't offend you. I was tired and become a major smart @$$ when I am, not to mention i was alittle aggitated by your comments on the rigs. Again I am sry if I was a little harsh, I re read it and I did seem like I was being a bit mean, but I was mostly kidding.

Good luck judges on your final choosing.OH and to clarify, pioneer wasn't kidding about making me leave the room when speaking to the judges, so don't think I have any more of an advantage than you do. I couldn't even get him to help me choose, out of all the pictures I had taken, which ones to post. Also Good luck to all the entries. The pictures look great and I enjoyed seeing some of them, gave some great ideas on how to better the looks of my own rig. Thanks again.

...........
Everything is kewl on my end pioneer.
Kudos to you and the other judges for putting the contest together!
No worries about the comments swaying the votes. The votes had already been cast, and they still are at this time, the exact same. The judges just need some time to talk amongsth themselves to make 100% for sure that we reached the correct decision. The judges know not to listen to what Iandroo says (just kidding). Seriously though.....NOTHING a member can say would have swayed our votes. We were judging based off the rules that were stated. My votes were slightly different than the other two judges, but you guys will see that in a bit, and hopefully you will understand why my votes were different.

Thanks you for the Kudos. I do have to say....judging this contest has been EXTREMELY rough on us judges. There were a LOT of excellent machines posted here.....and I for one wish I could have picked EVERYBODY as a first place winner!! That way everybody could have enjoyed a great board. But sadly....we only have one prize to give away, go that's all we can do (we have 3, one prize per spot). All I got to say is...this has been a tough ride here for the judges.

With that in mind guys, PLEASE be patient with us judges. We are trying our hardest to make sure we have a fair winner. I know the delays can be annoying and sometimes really bothersome. But we are trying our hardest to get the results out as soon as possible. Again, we just want to make sure that our votes were all fair and valid.

Pioneer has now left to build a computer for someone hopefully he already gave the other two judges enough of his own input for this long wait to soon be over.

ARG!

Taking forever... I'm off to bed, I'll check for results in the morning
I wish people let me build their computers. I swear theres nobody in Maine who knows what a custom computer is, other than me and RPIJG (something like that can never remember the exact letters )

uhhh...

I want to apologize to everyone and the judges for the yesterday's post "Critiquing" everyones rigs. my original intentions was to say what i thought about the rig.. whats good. whats bad.. what could be done to make improvements but apparently all i did was say what was bad and what i didnt like T_T hope everyone wont bear a grudge against me and be mad/pissed/disappointed with me :[
