Alright guys, here's who I voted for, and the reasons why (the other judges should be doing the same tomorrow):
1st = Borg (3)
2nd = OEM (2)
3rd = Tux3d0 (1)
Opteron Meets the Borg, 1st Place:
I chose this case as winning first place because it was a VERY creative mod. It was well thought out, and implemented just as well. I loved the way it turned out, and I think it deserved first place points. I did kind of screw up on my judging SLIGHTLY, but the other judges seem to think it was fair. I also chose this as a first place winner because I knew that the Borg was running with a board that had onboard video. I felt that it would make sense to award a new motherboard to this entry. That's not why I chose him, but it helped fit it together.
Project OEM, 2nd Place:
I chose this as the second place winner because, well again, very well thought out design. Not too many people would think about modding an OEM HP or whatever case. I think it was well thought out, and it turned out VERY nice. The cable management wasn't superior, however given the case that it was put into...I don't think it could've been MUCH better. Again, my feelings got in the way of my vote slightly here as well, which is why its good to have more than one judge. I felt that since he was running an OEM case, it would make sense to award him a case. BTW, my feelings towards these entries only affected my choice by MAYBE 5%....I chose them because of the entry they posted...which is what I was supposed to do as a judge
Project Tuxedo (not gonna bother with the CORRECT SPELLING ):
I chose this case as being a third place winner. This was a VERY tough decision. In all honesty, I wanted almost everybody to win first place, but that just can't happen. Project Tuxedo looked VERY nice. It was painted, decent cable management, some sexy shots of it in all its glory. Honestly, it was VERY well done, and I'm glad it actually won first place. However in my opinion, the other two cases I chose above this one, I thought were slightly more creative....creativity goes a long way with me. Project Tuxedo, although simple and plain, looked beautiful.
Again, these were just MY votes, and the reasons behind them. As you can see, there are numbers behind whom I chose. Those numbers represent "points". The points were tallied up from all the judges votes, and the one with the highest points won. Project Tuxedo had the most points, and all three judges had it in their lists...so it only made sense it was a clear winner. The Borg, had two of the three judge's interests....and the points that were given to it awarded it second. SR-1 was also given points to by two of the three judges, and the points awarded it third place.
These winners were all official as of the date we originally had planned. However the three judges did want to discuss these entries in a real time chat so we could make 100% for sure that we chose correctly and fairly (and according to our rules). I for one, appologize for the delays. Some of them were indeed my fault. Some were not. The delays weren't expected unfortunately. On our next contest, I think we'll announce the winners like a week after the contest is over (we'll all have to discuss this later), that way we can in fact meet the deadline.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners, and to everybody that participated. You guys made this choice VERY difficult to do. I spent HOURS trying to figure out who should and should not win. A few machines were in fact ruled out because you didn't follow the rules (you know who you are
). But the remaining entries made it VERY difficult.
I would also like to make note here, I had a list of quite a few winners to begin with that REALLY stood out to me. I had absolutely NO clue whom to award first, second, third, etc....those machines are as follows (I feel they deserve mentioning):
The Beast (ah come on, I wanted to win too, lol)
Opteron Meets the Borg
MjrTom's rig (unfortunately didn't follow the rules, but was well done)
OptyMSIPrime (unfortunately didn't follow the rules, but was well done)
All of Soundx98's rigs
Now these are just the ones that stuck out the most to me. ALL of the entries were absolute wonderful...and it made it really difficult to be a judge. The ones that didn't follow the rules, I'm sorry...but some of the rules couldn't be bent as easily as others. The judges discussed this as well when making our decisions. Almost EVERYBODY bent some rules here and there....and some of the rules were okay to bend. But the rules regarding the actual posting of your entry were pretty much set in stone
Again, congratulations to EVERYONE....now hopefully txtmstrjoe and thlnk3rbell will use the same format maybe to make it easier for you guys
