Thread Starter
Well I'm in the process of building my first intel rig.. planning on a 6550 proc but i have no idea on what mobo to choose.. I would like to spend no more than 95 shipped.. give or take a few dollars..

I dont plan on OC'in insane amounts.. ( air cooling this build)

What is my best bet?

Thanks in advance!

Everyone will tell you the same, the Gigabyte DS3L. It is a very good board, and easy to overclock. You can get the most out of it by only changing about 16 settings in the bios.

I would also recommend that you spend the extra $20 and get the E6750. It has an x8 multi and will only need 450 FSB to get to 3.6GHz, where as the E6550 will need 515 FSB for the same overclock .

Edit: Ok, I will concede, the Abit IP35-E is also a popular budget board. I just think the DS3L is put together a lot better.

IP35-E or DS3L, especially if you are a first-time overclocker. I literally got my roommate's E6750 to 3.2 GHz stable after two minutes in BIOS.

DS3L

I recently built my little bro a rig with that and the 6550 you mentioned. Couldn't of went any smoother. I'd heed Ericeod though and opt for the higher multiplier.
