Computer build running "heavy applications" slowly

Thread Starter
I have a question that hopefully someone in here can answer... I have recently completed a new computer build with 4 GB or ram and a Intel Quad Core Processor. Some of my bigger applications are running slow... well they have slow response times... it sometimes takes 2 seconds for the application to respond after I click my mouse. I eventually want to play games and overclock but I am wondering why my new computer can't handle basic applications... it works well with almost everything else...

My case temp is around 25-30C and my cpu temp idles around 35-37C

let me know if you guys can help me out... thanks

You didn't disable your page file did you? Disabling it can cause this with some programs.

I don't believe so... is there a way to check?

he has 4GB ram disabling the pagefile should be ok. Did you check the task manager and see if the process is running on all four cores? Also which OS are you running?

The problem is that some programs require a page file in order to run properly. In my opinion always have a page file.

The best time to disable Page File is with 8Gb Ram.

You using Vista? Superfetch was working my system over after every boot and after every time I quit a program and went back to desktop for the first week or so, causing exactly what your saying, a second or two delay every time I tried to do something. Resource meter would show me at 100% usage of hard drive and program being svchost.exe 6 or 8 times.

If that's the problem, you can disable, or if you live with it for a week or so it really does work great.
