G0 or B3? what is the Difference?

Thread Starter
Hi All,

once again, I think this is a bit of a Noob question, but I still dont know what the difference is besides the 105watt and 95watt.

Has anybody got anymore info with regards to the difference?

Different stepping has different thermal limit. In general, G0 has higher thermal limit than B3. For instance, Q6600. G0 has 72c max thermal vs. B3 has 62c. Higher thermal limit gives you higher OC potential.

G0s often overclock better too.

GOs over clock better. It shouldn't be too hard to find the G0s compared to the B3s

I have both and the G0 does not OC better, they'll reach the same speeds.
What's better about the G0 is it runs 10°c cooler with a higher thermal threshhold.

Well, it depends on the CPU.

It's clear that the G0 Q6600 was able to get a slightly better overclock, as our B3 sample wouldn't post at 3.51GHz, but the improvement isn't earth shattering. We have heard of much better overclocks with G0 cores, so your mileage may vary of course.

Didnt they fix that slight manufacturing error that was present in the earlier processers in the GO version. I cant remember as its been a while since this was discussed.

I know it didnt really effect most users but it was a big difference between the two
