U-Channel For Window Mod

Thread Starter
Is it possible to find this (u channel) somewhere not online (Lowe's, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc)?

I am doing a window mod. I purchased some locking strip (CLICK FOR WHAT I BOUGHT), and am not sure that I wish to end up using it. It would be nice to have a couple of options, since I'm not 100% positive what I will end up doing with my cut yet.

I am taking my computer home with me over the weekend (I am at a university) to work on this project. Just needed to know if I can pick up some U-channel on the way somewhere seeing as I already have to stop at Lowe's to pick up some double sided 3M tape and blue painter's tape.

this is what syrillian suggested to me when i did my window mod on my project tuxedo. go to a local automotive part store like Checkers/Kragen... and find some automotive trim. They usually have two colors, black and chrome. it comes in approx 2 strips and is like 5 bux for a pack. 2 strips should be enough for a regular window. i used about 1 3/4. heat the strip by warm water bath or maybe like a hair dryer or osmething (putting it ontop of a electronic like satellite reciever works too.. they run pretty hot.. well mine does anyway).. the trim from checkers/kragen has a bead of adhesive inside too so it holds pretty well when you put it on.

good luck!

Hey, thanks iandroo!

Mind if I ask what the reason for heating is? Eases the installation?
