Default New Mobo?
My P5B deluxe just died....again....i have bad hands? Whether it was ESD (not likely at all) or the fact that FluidXP/rubbing alcohol spilled on it i dont know. I did spray some scrubbing bubbles on it and washed it down, which normally helps but still i cant get a boot up. I have an extra Pentium D lying around that i tried to rule out processor and no luck. anwho its the third time and i dont think Asus will be tooo happy about an RMA, plus i dont know if i wanna wait the 2-3 weeks. So, im probaly gonna buy another one. I went on newegg (of course) and saw the only deluxe they have was open box and it was $135. It must be on popular demand or not being made? Ive been thinking since its that much for an open box anyways, should i upgrade to a new mobo? My price range is 100-180. I need an LGA 775 and would prefer ASUS unless you can prove to me a board works otherwise. The only thing is i will have to reformat/repair which i havent done since.....idk but ahhh well. Anyways thanks for any suggestions. I was thinking something like P5K or P5E but again its up to u. If you think i should just RMA too thats fine i just wanted to know if now, while its in 9000 pieces would be the time to upgrade.

Short story-
P5B deluxe is dead
Should I RMA/Just get another P5B/Buy a newer mobo
LGA775, prefer ASUS
Price Range- 100-180

thanks in advance

IMHO, asus's overall quality has really gone down hill, I myself was an Abit fan until I realized how decrepit and utterly useless their tech support and bios teams have become.

I'd recommend any of these boards, *side note* In truth the 965 chipset is not dated or inferior by any means, it has proven to be a wolfdale OCing monster, search XS forums and you'll see what I mean */end side note*

DFI INFINITY P965-S retail for $80 + S/H

DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS for $140 + S/H

DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2R for $195 + S/H

Well from my experience when running the different chipsets under dry ice, p35 will clock higher than the x38's, but the p965's are great if you get certain boards. The X38's only offer crossfire, so if you are looking for a single card board go for p35.

Wow thanks. Im deff. considering the DFI LANPARTY DK P35 now. The only reason is im paraniod about price=quality and 79 seems a little too low for a mobo whch is why i think ill go for the DFI LANPARTY DK P35 and not the P965 one. Thats just imo. Im sure it rock solid though. I have heard alout about DFI but i always thought they werent all that good but now im considering it. Thanks again! anybody else feel free to share

right, right ive heard that about the X38. Truth is im not a big gamer which futher unjustifies my need for a powerful pc (; So in that case i probaly wont do crossfire and like u said thats the only big advantage over the P35. looks like im sticking with the P35 on this one. Thanks sooo much for ur help, i was about ready to buy some used one off ebay lol. Any other suggestions feel free but i think im gonna go with DFI, still gonna do some more research though

Oh really? Yeah there was some specualtion about how it can overclock and every body has diff. experiences based on their hardware. I think im gonna stick with P35 for price and reviews ive heard. Ive also looked into more DFI P35 chipsets on newegg and im thinking about going for this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136039

Its a little better with heatsinks/asthetics then the one MasterKromm offered. Thanks Kromm cause i wouldnt even thought of DFI and now i dont think im ever going back to Asus. The only downside is i was never a fan of the Phoenix Bios and allways loved the one Asus uses but ill get used to it. If anyone has any rejections to that board let me know. Its 40 bucks more but i think it should be worth it.
