Only the uber elite of these teams, everyone else who cpu folds usually does 3840, 1920, 1920, 1920, 3840. I agree with ranger 2500 is a good move, but 3k is too much.

Ok so your average drops for the day or two... But 4 days of the 840 points adds an extra 3360 points so I would think your end of month PPD would be better at the 3840 (not capped) than a 3000ppd capped. Remember we can get bad WUs too. And from my understanding a cap is daily not weekly or monthly (see bottom for suggested change).

So you have

3840
3840
2000
3840
3840
2000
3840

You have 23,200 total

And say in theory I get the same points doing GPU2 folding
(Max my GPU will fold right now is about 2900ppd anyway under best case using my ATI card)

3840
3840
2000
3840
3840
2000
3840

I get the same 23,200 total points but if the max set at 3k I only get credit for 19,000 or if the max is set at 2.5k I only get credit for 16,500 and as it is currently set I only get credit for 14,000 points (that is 40% loss of points).

You can get bad WUs when SMP folding we can get bad WUs when GPU2 folding. I know GPU WUs are smaller, so a bad WU is not as bad for GPU as it is for SMP but, the fact is when capped a bad day can not be made up for the next day, compared to a bad day SMP folding that can be made up for if you have a couple of good days.

Also a few WUs don't get credited on the right day correctly it kills my points for that day... which means it mess up the whole week or month, compared to you if your WUs dont credit today and get pushed to tomorrow no biggy (unless maybe last day of the month which just helps your next months score).

This goes back to the Theory of Constrants... Basic we are getting a through put cap which really hurts us. Then combine that with the cap being so much less than you hurts even more. Right now we (GPU2 folders) have a hard cap that is half of what the best SMP folders are getting. Half... this makes me unable to really compete...

Now if the cap where moved to proposed 2,500ppd and set on the same time frame as the comp, then that might be better. By this I mean, this month has 31 days so the cap should be 2500x31=77500 total points for the month... This way if we (GPU2 folders) have a bad folding day maybe we can make up for it, with a few good folding days. But it is still way less than what you SMP folders can get.

I understand having a cap, but make it a cap that is comparable to the best, that is where it was set when it was made right?

I see your point, but most gpu folders are nvidia, and they don't miss. They most of them hit upwards of 4k per day. Also cpu folders can get 2165 jobs, bad 1920 jobs they take almost 24 hours on a great rig, on my wifes Q66 @ 3.5ghz they take 1 day 9 hours. Last month she had days where she was putting in 2165 every other day. We just happen to be in the best job rates ever in cpu folding. I have been cpu folding since April and its never been this good.

The law of averages would suck too, because then all gpu folders would be the same score at the end of the month, what fun is that. That would allow someone to fold for 15 days if they got 4k per day, then quit and say who cares I have my max.

I agree an update is needed but anything more than 2700 would not allow anyone to compete, just uber elites on months where good jobs are handed out. I assure you I have thought a ton about this, its on my list of things that need work. I just don't think 3k is right. 2500-2600 is ideal point per day allowed, and that would go for quads as well.

Actually if I had my way I would not even have a cap I would limit the teams to a max of two gpu folders without a cap so you could have a team for two cpus and two gpus or 3 cpu and one gpu or 4 cpu folders but no cap

Alright boys, we are really doing some serious folding now. Let's hope we can all stay at this pace! We might be able to break a RR record.

I am doing my absolute best to fold fast

I don't know if you noticed but once in a while I will get a WU in within the 9 hour update versus 12 hours apart, and it is happening very often. I think every 3rd or 4th unit Ill get far enough under 12 hrs for it to show as 9 hrs on EOC...

Friday night I might have an hour of complete downtime for some favor I need to do for someone (test their CPU in my system) but I plan on doing only 30 minutes of work really. The other 30 minutes will be cushion time to make sure I get back on track.

Looks like the RR team is gonna kick some major ass this month guys. We also got 2 other teams in HOT pursuit so as Jade put it best, GO!GO!GO!

Guys at this rate we can break 350k in one month

If we do that.... my god that will be remarkable and probably untouchable until a new architecture comes out for CPU folding 0_0

We have just over 47k in 4 days. 4*7.5=30days, 7.5*47000=352,500points in 30 days.

Realistically unlikely, but it would be nice to get close

Hey Free you are tearing it up! Top 5 man! At the rate you are folding you could even take first place. As far as your friend needing a mobo to test his CPU. That's why man invented Geek Squad!

Ok man. But you don't want to fall behind with such a great start! That'd really be a shame.

As for me. I am now only 1 update behind Snoopy and Ranger

I hope to pass them in this first turn. *crossing fingers, toes, eyes, and even T's*

haha well I shouldn't fall more than 1 update behind so it will be all good I can make that up in a day or so though, but I need that extra speed for when I game which like last night, put me one update behind.

Hopefully I keep gaming to a min so folding doesn't take a hit
