Q6600 6 hours small FFT enough? - Page 2

After much confusion, I have determined SPP is the North Bridge, and MCP is the south bridge. If I am wrong, correct me here and now, because I have found several posts claiming this and several posts claiming MCP is north, etc. On my board, SPP is the North Bridge. Empirically valid.

I'd say 5-6 hours on each test should be sufficient. If it's truly not stable after that, you probably don't have to worry about it since you'll never know.

I have a 680i mobo manual in front of me and it says MCP/Northbridge and SPP/Southbridge.

Is good for 95% of OCs on this board.

They stand for the northbridge and south bridge.

MCP = Media Communications Processor, controlling ethernet, USB buses, etc. South Bridge.

SPP = System Platform Processor, handling memory traffic via CPU. North Bridge.

Thank god I can get it straight now

The terms pertain to nvidia chipset packages, which is why it's hard to find general info...

Don't know why the 680i manual says that. I've found the confusion on this issue is RAMPANT. Increasing my 780i SPP voltage is what got my memory stable at a 3.6 GHz overvclock, based on someone recommending that as my north bridge stability issue.

I was told MCP = South Bridge, while SPP = North Bridge.
