Could be all sorts of things making it unstable. Could have reached the mobo's fsb peak, the cpu's raw clock speed peak, the memory clock/latency peak.

How much experience do you have at overclocking?

You need more Northbridge vCore and possibly a little more CPU vCore too.

My previous E6600 required 1.45v to break 3.4Ghz.

Thanks for the replys.

Well ive tried 377x9 at 1.4 volts, gets into windows fine but is unstable.

With 378x9 at 1.425 volts, when i saved and it rebooted, it did error beeps that were short and fast then my comp restarted. When it booted it said 3.4ghz with no error beeps but i still changed it bak Jjst in case.

Could be that you're overdoing it somewhere else then.

What you need to do, is find out the max speed of;

CPU (raw clocks)
Mobo (fsb)
RAM

By turning up the speed on one of them bit by bit with the other two turned right down. This allows you to find the max stable speed of the one part when the other parts must be stable.

Once you have found out all the speeds you can acheive/want, you can start putting them together and it 'should' work.

Like I said, you need more Northbridge and CPU vCore. You may even have to go as high as 1.45v on the Northbridge and 1.5v the CPU. Be sure to take into account your system's cooling and power supply as well. Even after making the necessary voltage adjustments your cooling and power may be limited.

I'm assumeing you've made all other appropriate changes in your BIOS as well, such as alleviating stress from the chipset by disableing any unused onboard devices. Also make sure any Spread Spectrum options are also set to disabled. Pay attention to your RAM's speed as well and lower it if necessary. I hit 3.75Ghz with my previous E6600 on air cooling so it's entirely possible for you to breach 3.2Ghz provided your power supply and cooling are up to par.

I just wanna be careful WITH EVERYTHING I DO. I have no job atm

So the short continues beeps only meant instability?

Presumeably, you could search around for that on here, or ask teh intarwebs.

[Edit] I don't think throwing more volts at it everytime you come up against a wall is always the best idea, esp. without a job, like me.

You should think about how much extra performance you want, and of course, why? I've personally only added .05 volts to add 500MHz, after that I can't justify the extra mhz per volts, the volts go up too steeply.
