Help my bios wont save new fsb settings.

Thread Starter
Ok.. this is my first time try at overclocking my cpu (Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz).

My motherboard is Asus P5N32e 680i with bios version 1403.

I changed my fsb setting to 1096 from 1066 (default) linked with memory by 3:2 ratio.

After the reboot, fsb setting is back to default of 1066.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on ?

Thanks reading a newb post

Did you build your computer, or buy it from a company?

My friend has this problem with his company built computer, and I assumed it was because the company locked them.

The computer was built by me for first time

I had it for around 4 months now, and just getting into overclocking.

Hmm.. Maybe your motherboard's battery is dead and not saving any BIOs settings at all.

Try changing something like the boot priority and see if it sticks after a restart.

argh.. I think I'm done for today.

I have set my ram timing manually and did some other tweaks... but the damn fsb setting wont save for some reason.

Do you think its because of my bios version ? I went from 0802 (I think thats what it was) to 1403 since that was the latest one avaliable.

Anyways good night.

Get your CMOS Battery, take it out for 5 minutes, and replace it. That helped for me.

I took the battery out left it for few minutes and replaced it, restarted the comp and tweaked the bios settings, then after save and exit, message appeared for like half second (I think it said rambios updating? ))

Went into windows and started CPU-Z program and this time it worked !!

Currently sitting at 2.85 Ghz and stable, I would be satisfied with 3.0 Ghz>

Thankyou guys for your help !
