chanster thanks for the advice. Yeah i thought the Chaintech AV-710 put out some pretty decent sound but wasn't sure because i had nothing to compare it to. I'll just stick with it.

Hey all

Well, you guys have also helped me. If I can't get any drivers for my X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-Express then I'll just have to trash the thing and get me one of those X-Fi Extreme Music cards. I need a card to use for listening to music, singing, playing a game every now and then, and watching DVDs. My thanks too for helping me to make the right choice. I suppose you can get these X-Fi Extreme Music cards for under $100 right? I cannot afford to spend any more than that right now.

The XtremeMusic is discontinued, replaced by the XtremeGamer. (they are effectively the same card with a different PCB)

Geeks.com has the XtremeMusic OEM for about $40 right now, which is a steal.

Thanks Chip for that info. I really, though, hate to trash my X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-E that I paid $70 for. I think for right now I'll just keep looking for some drivers for it. It's really not a bad card. Besides I'm running really tight on money too right now.

Something commonly looked over, if your output sucks, won't matter how kick ass your source is.
