Does Vista support RS232/Serial port PCI cards?

Does Vista have native support for RS232/Serial port PCI expansion cards?

Will it automatically be able to install the drivers for me, as with USB PCI cards, without needing a driver disk from the PCI card's manufacturer?

Nope, it won't work without a driver (that vista doesn't carry internally). I have a parallel PCI card, and it needed drivers. Same goes for USB parallel (and likely serial) devices.

Would the drivers have to be specifically Vista compatible? It's being installed in a computer with a 32-bit Vista install.

I don't know. I've never tried to install an XP driver in vista.

I have one of those cheapy cards (serial ports) installed on a vista machine and it worked fine using the XP driver. I ended up switching the machine to XP because it was a work station. But when i did have it, it didnt give me any issues.
