I was driving home today and noticed someone had abandoned a sempy 3000+ emachines rig on the curb. I peeked inside when scooping her up and the poor child was missing a hard drive. No time to give her a good once over, but she looks to be whole otherwise. It's a shame to see poor mistreated hardware left to fend on its own in the wild. She has a good home here now and we'll nurse her back to health before making her available for adoption by a new pwner.
It's a good thing you have room in your heart and your home for that poor rig. Feed it some DDR and give it a 40 gig to cuddle with and it'll be good as new!
lol I did the same sorta thing about a year ago, went to the dump with the girlfriends dad to find somone had dumped a rig there, took a look inside and it had 512 of ddr333 and a amd athlon 3400 in it, still sat in her bedroom somwhere.
No-one should abandon computers like that. It's just as well that there are some good people in this world willing to take strays in and nurture them back to health.
REMEMBER KIDS - A RIG IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
I found a gold in computers that was dump on the curb also.I found 2 486(?) computers(I gave away)1 dell celeron(I am refurbishing)1 misc(with celeron, also redoing that)and one old crt.

ROFL! Same thing happened to me about a month and a half ago I'm actually posting this message on it right now! I had to take the guts out and put it in a spare case because the people tore it apart to get the video card, ram and hard drive out of it. completely ruined the case It must have gotten rained on because the motherboard mounting screws have rust on them. LOL The thing still works like a charm. I don't know what those people were thinking.
I've found more than a few strays and took them in and later found them a good home.
Several of my students whom couldn't afford a PC got them
Outstanding.

I have a couple Dell GX270 small desktop pcs I was thinking of donating too.
They were given to me and were still under warranty so Dell sent me new motherboards as they had bad caps.
I want to see some pictures of this treasure you found too
