WOW! X2 550W RMA for X3 1000W!!

Hey people, my X2 550W UV Blue's fan seems to be taking a crap. After an hour or so of PC use, the fan's bearings start to make noise. I've contacted Ultra in regards to this and they are willing to replace the PSU with something other than the X2 550W UV Blue, a V-series 600W PSU. The X2 series is no longer available. Now this PSU is nothing like my X2 Blue, it's plain, very plain. They aren't willing to step me up to X3, so which Ultra PSU should I ask for? Keep in mind that I paid just over $100 for my PSU in Oct.06. Please Help me decide!

Maybe ask for a x-connect? It's pretty nice looking. If not, I think you're stuck with the v-series. Tbh, looks aren't everything.

They don't have any of the x-connects available. There are NO UV Modular PSU's currently being offered from Ultra, at this time. I'm attempting to have them send me an X3, although the only one that is even available from Ultra is the X3 1000W! The MSRP is $299, so I doubt that they will be willing to go that route. As long at it's modular and at least 550W or 35A on 12V Rail(s), I don't really care what it looks like!

Why not the 700w XVS? Seems like a good PSU to me

That's not a bad choice, although a couple of things bother me about that PSU.

Bother #1: 2-80mm Fans--In my experiences with PSU's, 80mm fans always make ALOT of noise when doing heavy duty tasks!

Bother #2: It's not available at this time from Ultra's Website

Also, I forgot to mention something. The Technical Support Specialist handling my RMA did state that I could look on TigerDirect as they are directly affiliated with Tiger. I'm not quite sure how to take this information. Anyone have any ideas?

That 600 V series doesn't look like the best quality it only has 420 watts max on the 12v which is only 35 amps.A quality 600 watt PSU should have 45 amps or more.Ultra makes some good PSU's and some real crap so be careful which one you get.

I just got an email from Ultra and they are going to warranty my PSU with an X3 version. I'm not sure which version, but the least amount is an 800W

I'll sell you my X3 because I hate having to use 4 molex connectors for my 3rd GPU... because it only comes with 4 PCI connectors. It's about 15 days old. PM me if you're interested.
