[NHW] X38 SLI rumor

This is about 4 months old, and I'm not sure if it has been posted before. I searched, no results. So here it goes:

Quote:
The debate on X38 running SLI has been going on for some time now. While many stories have been founded on misinterpretations and pure speculations, there have been talk from some of the motherboard manufacturers to make drivers of their own for running SLI on Intel's high-end chipset X38. While Intel is keeping a rather low profile, it would not deny that X38 can run SLI if you ask them, NVIDIA on the the other hand is denying any SLI support for X38, which is completely true as of today. A user over at XtremeSystems now claims that he will receive working SLI drivers for X38 very soon. Exactly from whom or which company (if any) remains uncertain, but a pretty sure bet would be Foxconn as they were the ones who started this rumor circus.

Well its technically possible to run SLi/Xfire on any mobo with either sli/xfire capabilities its just the drivers/BIOS that get in the way.

Voodoo/HP can give you SLi/Xfire with the Blackbird002 using a nforce 680i board.

nVidia just wont let intel make the drivers.. foxconn, evga, or other mobo makers could but they'd get sued by nvidia haha

Well, think about it. If nVidia doesnt let Intel make SLI drivers for their boards, Intel can counter attack by saying that they wont allow them to make SLI supported boards for the Nephalem. If that will be the case, then SLI support will only be available for AMD cpus. This way, both Intel and Nvidia suffer.

Yea there was already that sort of exchange when the Skulltrail was being designed.....they threatened to not support the 45nm quads in the new NVidia chipsets (or something along those lines)

Yea, so my guess is that Intel will implement these drivers on x38/x48 boards.
