Basically, if I'm OC'ing my CPU, I go into BIOS and mess with the FSB, right? I think I'm doing it right, but some details seem to be misleading. I went with this idea and upped my FSB from 1333mhz to 1533mhz and got up to 3.07Ghz (starting at 2.66Ghz) just fine. 35C/32C idle, and 47C/44C under a full load. When I checked My Computer it says this:

E6750 @ 2.66Ghz, 3.07Ghz. I'm guessing this means I did something wrong? I want to get 3.2Ghz out of this processor. Any replies are appreciated.

Your doing it right so far. It just tells you the stock speed and then what it is actually running at. Just up your FSB a little more to get to 3.2. You should have no problems, but check to make sure your core voltage isn't on auto. Set it to 1.3 - 1.4. You should be able to get that think much higher

I'm really scared about upping the voltage. If I fry this proc then I am truly ****ed.

EDIT: Using Prime95, the small FFT gets my temps up to 55C/53C, and large FFT sets it at 49C/47C. Should I just stay focused on the higher one to remain safe?

Mine is set to 1.35V which is perfectly safe. I got 1G out of mine just changing the FSB. You will be ok just leaving it at 1.35. If you go too high with the FSB it won't fry your chip. You'll just have to reset CMOS. But I don't see you having any problem at all getting to 3.2

I just want to make sure my temps stay below 60C right? Will sending more voltage to the chip basically just give it more air to breathe to keep it cooler?

I've tried hard to find an accurate program for reading temps but they all seem to be different. No one knows which one is most accurate so I would just go with the highest to be safe But 57 is ok. I personally just wouldn't want to get above 60

1.35 is about stock voltage so you shouldn't get anymore heat from that. Its just taking it off auto so it doesn't go too high.

Alright thanks Le0. Wish me luck!

EDIT: One last thing. How do I know what raising the FSB is gonna do to the frequency? Is there a special formula that you divide the FSB by to get the frequency? I know about the frequency and multiplier, but yeah. If this makes any sense.

Guck luck!! I don't like messing with the voltage either. These overclock pretty easily just changing the FSB. But it does depend a lot on your mobo too. I had your board in my last rig though and I thought it was pretty good for OCing.

Alright cool. I just don't think I have the balls to tell my dad I fried my cpu after just a few hours of building this. He's always warned me because he's burned a few.

Welp, I'll be back in 5 to let you know how it goes.
